About the Series
The Neon Nights Series is a cyberpunk noir thriller trilogy set in a sprawling future city where corporate collapse has left the augmented poor and the unaugmented poor to sort through the wreckage together. The city runs on infrastructure that Helix Industries and its peers built and that their implosion damaged without destroying. The grey economy is how most of it functions. The law is whatever the corporations with the best lawyers say it is.
At the center of all three books are Sonnie Martinez and Rax Donovan — a partnership built on mutual assessment, shared operational history, and the specific weight of two people who have been through enough that they no longer need to explain themselves to each other. Every book is a complete, standalone investigation. Beneath all of them, invisible at first and increasingly present as the series advances, the architecture of something larger is being assembled.
The series asks one central question across all three volumes: what does it mean to resist a system that has made itself indistinguishable from the air you breathe? The answer is not given in speeches. It accumulates, case by case, extraction by extraction, in the record of people who decided that some costs were worth bearing and kept bearing them past the point where the arithmetic was comfortable.
